The Manchester young men and young women WeGrow cohorts organised and hosted a hugely successful ‘Big Quiz’ night this week.

As part of their programme this year the Manchester young men and women on the WeGrow programme held a fundraising quiz to raise money to support their ‘Big Trip’ a celebration of their achievements throughout the programme which will take place in October 2021.

The event raised over £500 towards the trip, however the event was more about the personal development of the gappies, and the skills and knowledge gained in organising such an event. The gappies displayed great self confidence, and team work in pulling the event together.

North West Community Maker Rachel Orgill said of the event

“‘Gappies hosting an evening for fundraising demonstrates how far they’ve come on their journey. The confidence and self-awareness is transformative. It’s a real push outside your comfort zone public speaking and networking isn’t easy and they all beamed with pride”.

The quiz held at Use.Space Manchester was attended by our employer partners, local supporters, external life coaches who deliver on the WeGrow programme as well as the wider community of the North West making it such a great success.

The next event that the gappies are assisting to organise is their graduation ceremony taking place in November.
