Recruiting for Project Lead in Manchester!

9th January 2020

We are looking for a project lead for our pilot young men’s project

Do you have a passion for working with young people?

Do you believe everyone deserves opportunities and the skills and confidence to say YES when those opportunities come knocking?

Do you want to be part of doing things differently – learning, reflecting and changing as you go?

Then we want to hear from you.

After 13 successful all female programmes, WeMindTheGap will deliver our first young men’s cohort in Manchester commencing in March 2020. Our pilot project will support up to 10 young men aged 18 – 25 who haven’t had the best start in life to move from being ‘prisoners of circumstances to being pilots of their own lives’.

To be successful you will need to demonstrate a willingness to have an open mindset and think differently; be curious and trust in our ethos on trauma and behaviours in adolescents; be personally resilient enough to support our young men; and be capable of bringing positive energy to the group.  You will be of the community, and in the community. Most importantly, you will be the ultimate role model to those you are supporting.

As ‘Project Lead’ (our family ethos means that we much prefer the title ‘Skipper’) you will lead from the helm and deliver the 26-week programme in tandem with the “Big Bro’ who as the welfare officer supports the needs of each participant, or Gappies as they are known.  You will walk alongside each Gappie, role modelling behaviours and communication, demonstrating how to liaise with employer partners, agencies and other professionals.  You will lead mini-workshops to help the young people learn new skills and think differently.  You will help create the community around the Gappies from life coaches, to employer partners, to sessional workers and external mentors.  Our holistic approach means that everything we do is delivered with love and care.

This will be a fixed term contract of 40 weeks, commencing early February.  Based in Manchester City you will work 30 hours a week across Monday – Friday (with the first 6 weeks of delivery being 37.5 hours to accommodate 2 residential weeks that you will attend).  Salary will be £25K pro rata.

You will be educated to at least Level 3 qualification (A-level equivalent), have a clean and full driving licence so that you can drive our pool car for work and demonstrate the ability to be a team player.

We have a values-based recruitment approach and are seeking applicants who can demonstrate alignment with our values.
