Crime Prevention Services are going above and beyond for their local community

2nd March 2020

Crime Prevention Services based in Flintshire, are a family run business with over 35 years’ experience in security systems. This year, the company has gone above and beyond for WeMindTheGap and our young women on the Flintshire programme. As a dedicated employer partner, the company not only provides engaging and valuable work placements but has generously donated £15,000 to WeMindTheGap. The donation has paid for one young person to be on the paid employment programme, that comprises up to five varied work placements, one-to-one life coaching sessions, new life experiences and valuable qualifications, followed by continued support to help make the next steps in life – whatever those may be.

One young woman described her time with Crime Prevention, “I really enjoyed my time at Crime Prevention Services. I was on placement there for 4 weeks. I was kept very busy, but that’s what I liked about it as there is always something to be doing. The team are all lovely and look after you and make you feel as if you belong. They are all like one big family. During my time at CPS I learnt how to use Microsoft Excel, how to check surveillance in the Alarm Receiving Centre. I also learnt new skills in admin such as sorting out invoices and filing and scanning. I have gained certificates here by doing online modules such as bullying in the workplace, environmental issues and using digital screens in the workplace. I had never really thought about doing this type of work before, but I loved it and was pleasantly surprised. I think my favourite part was working in the Arc although I enjoyed the overall experience and would happily do it again.”

Managing Director, Karen Ferrell said, “As a company, we are proud to be a part of WeMindThe Gap’s mission to support young women, offering work-based placements at Crime Prevention Services to gain confidence and develop their skill set for a brighter future.”
