What a way to end the year for our trainees and team, as we attended the TheraPlate UK Liverpool International Horse Show at Liverpool’s Echo Arena. The day was organised courtesy of our generous Charity Partner, Bolesworth Events LLP, the promoters of the Liverpool International Horse Show and the Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show.
We witnessed some world-class show jumping, which saw Englishman Harry Charles take out the gold medal on his mare Doulita, to rousing applause from the crowd. The course was colourful and challenging, with one jump resembling the iconic Liverpool Liver Building. We watched with bated breath as the riders set off one after another, aiming to sail over the jumps and beat the clock with the minimum of faults.
Equally impressive was the spectacular world premiere of the Gilles Fortier equestrian acrobatic spectacle ‘Phoenix’, full of colour, drama and music. The bespoke creation and choreography featured beautifully skilled horses, breath-taking stunt action and a pyrotechnic display, which left us in awe of riders and horses alike.
During the Show we were proud to see WeMindTheGap’s name up in lights on the big screen, and appreciated the goodwill of so many spectators who generously texted their donations through.
Our trainees enjoyed sharing their own knowledge of horse riding and were keen to learn more about the sport and the work that goes into producing an event of this scale. Volunteering opportunities were discussed and uncovered, with more than one trainee voicing an interest in volunteering for future events.
Working with Show President Nina Barbour and her team will help us provide the best possible programme for our 2019 traineeship in Liverpool, and will additionally provide Nina’s team with an opportunity to give back to the city. A city that that has been incredibly supportive of the Liverpool Horse Show as it rises from strength to strength.
Happy New Year and Best Wishes for a Happy and Healthy 2019 from all of us!
